Avergae number of outgoing emails generated per hour?

Hello Atlassian Community!

I am having issues with our outgoing mail queue. I believe I have chased the answer down to an exchange throttling issue, but I am getting a lot of push-back from my IT department suggesting that we should be cutting down on the outgoing messages, rather than they fix the throttling issue.

So, my question to everyone is...how many emails per hour (on average during peak usage times) are your instances generating? I am completely void of any sort of benchmark that would allow me to push back on my IT department with confidence knowing that there are instances that handle the same, or more, emails per hour.

Currently, we own a 10000+ user license on-premise server instance (with about 5000+/- licenses occupied) that generates approximately 1k-3k messages an hour. Obviously, with our hang-up issue, it is kind of hard to get an accurate count, but this was the range I was able to come up with for sure.

Any info would be awesome.

Thanks,

Jason
