Update on May 9th, 2024: Time in Status by OBSS was recently rebranded as Timepiece. It is still the same capable app with the same dedicated team behind it. The answer below mentions the app as "Time in Status" but you can find the app in the marketplace as "Timepiece (formerly Time in Status)".

Hello Kumari,

I don't quite understand why you want to adjust JIRA according to your working hours, but it seems to me that you only want working hours to be included in the calculation of issue resolution times. If that is the case, I suggest you use a marketplace app for reporting the duration of issues.

I believe Time in Status which is developed by my team at OBSS, has a report type that will meet your need.  Our app is available for both Jira Cloud, and Data Center.

Time in Status mainly allows you to see how much time each issue spent on each status or each assignee

The application also offers custom calendar support. Calendars can be configured based on your working hours, excluding holidays and non-working hours (even lunch breaks) from the calculation. Time in Status reports can be generated based on your custom calendars. In your case, you can set up two different calendars for each of your shifts. By selecting the appropriate calendar, you can retrieve all the reports you need from the application and easily analyze performance between shifts.

The app calculates its reports using already existing Jira issue histories so when you install the app, you don't need to add anything to your issue workflows and you can get reports on your past issues as well.

Time in Status reports can be accessed through its own reporting page, dashboard gadgets, and issue view screen tabs. All these options can provide both calculated data tables and charts. And the app has a REST API so you can get the reports from Jira UI or via REST. Also you can export the reports in to various formats easily.

Visit Time in Status to explore how our JIRA add-on can revolutionize your metrics measurement process. Enjoy a 30-day free trial to experience the full range of features.

If you wish, you can also schedule a live demo. We will provide a comprehensive overview of the application and address any inquiries you may have.

Hope it helps,

Gizem

Hi @Lalithesh Channu  👋

In one of my previous community articles, I discussed a problem and presented a possible solution. Here it is:
How to exclude non-working days from your calculation in Jira?
I hope you find it helpful :)

Also Time in Status app solves this problem by allowing you to set calendars and exclude non-working hours, breaks, holidays from your analytics and forecasting.

Hi @Kumari dvipa ,

If you are using Jira Service Management then you can define your own calendar with your working hours. If the project is not a Service Management project then there is no built-in way of doing this.

For this exact need we developed Status Time Reports app. It provides reports on how much time passed in each status taking into account your working schedule. That is, "In Progress" time of an issue opened on Friday at 5 PM and closed on Monday at 9 AM, will be a few hours rather than 3 days.

Here is the online demo link, you can see it in action and try without installing the app.

If you are looking for a free solution, you can try the limited version Status Time Free.

Note: If you are interested in cycle and lead time, you can have a look at the article below. Cycle Time and Lead Time in Jira: Productivity Measurement with Two Critical Parameters

Thank you for your message.

Is there any option that we can do it from automation.

Hi @Kumari dvipa ,

We didn't try it using automation. In automation maybe you can calculate time difference between status changes. On the other hand excluding non-working hours might not be possible or might be tricky in automation.

Hi Kumari,

Can you give us more information on why you need to set that? Right now the function is not available for Jira Work Management for the Timeline and Calendars. You can view the request, vote for it, and follow updates here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JWMCLOUD-328

Hi John,

we have manufacturing unit in multiple location but the thing's we track the Process deeply and every Steps timeline is 2 hours and also our manufacturing work Shift timing its 09:00 am to 06:00 PM. for example someone raised ticket on evening 05:00 PM and SLA Timeline for task its 2 hours according to define workflow so why? task opened after 06:00 pm its opened in next day morning after 09:00 am. We need this type of automation its very very Urgent for my organization Please let me know if possible

Kumari dvipa April 5, 2024

I have created field using the date & time picker(Field Name- "Task Planned Date & Time). So, I want to see time under the field. and also, I applied the hours on each stage via automation rule. Like: on "IN progress" for 2 hours, "In review" for 4 hours like that.

For example. Someone move the ticket by 05:00 PM on 05 April 2024 from "IN Progress" to In Review"

Then according to our shift time, I want to show time date under the "Task Planned date & time"  12:00PM on 06 April 2024.

Hopefully that explain it. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Dvipa

If the time schedule is set, you should be able to use advanced conditions to compare the timings.

Kumari dvipa April 8, 2024

Hi,

Thank you for your time.

Please let me know, where we can find advanced condition.

Can you please guide me step by step.

Regards,

Dvipa
