I work in r&d in a company where we develop electronics products that consist of mechanical parts, electronics, and also software. Now to manage a product development project, different people from different departments have to work together, which is why I use Jira WM for it. Now, when I create tasks for different people, there are of course also the Software tasks. Should I now track them in Jira WM or in Jira SW or in both? Should I always switch spaces when I want to track the project status? Should I just track some SW milestones (e.g. epics) in WM, and more detailed in SW? What are best practices here? Or what's the original idea on how to use these two tools together?
Hi Ilian - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!
My first question would be, What are you wanting to see when you "track" them?
I would tend to go with creating a separate JSW issue and link to the original JWM issue. Or create an Epic in JWM and link all of your issues regardless of project to that Epic.
