Business Template Timeline Error - Start Date Locked

Hi,

We are trying to use the business template for Jira to manage tasks and timelines. However, the timeline adjustments are not saving as we cannot set a start date. In settings the Start Date field is locked.

How do we use the timeline without access to the start date field? Why is it set to locked as standard? Do we need to create a custom start date field?

Hi Angelica,

Unfortunately, i cannot set a start date as it is unavailable to add to the issue layout. We therefore get this error when trying to amend the timeline. Issue layout.PNG

Thank you for the screenshots, Ellen.

The field is not added to the screen, so it’s necessary to follow the steps I mentioned in my previous response.

Please, go to Project settings > Screens. Click on ABP: Task Management Edit/View Issue Screen and add the field.

Once you click on the ABP: Task Management Edit/View Issue Screen, you will see the list of the field and on the bottom, you can search for other fields, then, search for the Start date and click on it to add to the screen.

Hello @ellen_emes,

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

The Start date is a system field, that’s why it’s locked when we view the field on “Custom fields”.

On the Timeline, it’s possible to set a Start date by moving the schedule bars or editing the field directly on the ticket.

Since it’s a system field, it’s usually added to the screens, but if the field is not appearing in the ticket, it’s necessary to add it to the screen.

Please, go to Project settings > Screens. Click on the screens and add the field in case it’s not added yet. You can also drag and drop the field to organize the order of the fields.

Please, take your time to test and let us know how it goes.

Kind regards,
Angélica
