Whether it’s from a humble spreadsheet or a dedicated project management tool, more and more teams are making the decision to switch to Jira Work Management. Importing your data is a critical step in the migration process and today we’re excited to announce our first step towards making importing to Jira Work Management as seamless as possible.
Introducing the new CSV importer for Jira Work Management
The new CSV importer follows a simple flow of uploading your CSV, configuring your import by mapping your columns to fields, and setting up your new project. Along the way we’ve removed unnecessary complexity and chosen smart defaults to help you get started. For example, we now automatically map CSV columns to Jira fields with the same name and and we detect and configure the date format that is being used in your CSV.
The best way to see how the new importer works is by trying it yourself. Simply navigate to:
Create project; then
Import your work (left hand navigation); finally
Import to a new business project.
Note that you’ll need to be a Jira admin to see this option.
Along with these changes we’ve created a handy guide on how to export your data from other tools in CSV format.
What’s next?
This is only step one. We’re already working on allowing importing into team-managed projects and direct import from Trello and 3rd party tools. As we progress we’ll keep you updated here on Atlassian Community. We’d also love your feedback and suggestions, so please leave a comment below to keep the conversation going.
