Why did JIRA suddenly stop sending me email notifications?

JIRA has suddenly stopped sending email notifications to my team and I. We've checked our settings to ensure that we've allowed email notifications--yet the emails still aren't coming in. We also haven't done any setting changes at all--so there shouldn't be any change to the notifications.

There are a lot of reasons this might happen. You might find the following article of interest - troubleshoot-notifications-in-jira 

some ideas:

  • check to see if this is the case with all projects and all users
  • Check the permissions scheme to verify it is set as expected
  • Perform a basic test issue and see if issue created notification is sent
  • check with your IT group to see if issues actually are sent to the server
