How do I enable the sidebar for other users?

Hi, I am redoing our JIRA and have noticed my sidebar menu is only available for Project Leads...I think. How do I enable the left sidebar menu (the greyed out one) for users?

Hi Llewellyn,

When I’ve seen this behaviour before it’s been due to an error as opposed to something being disabled for certain users. When did you first start noticing this? Do the users who are unable to view these options see an error message? Check the atlassian-jira.log to see if there is anything appearing there when users attempt to access a project view. Also, it would be useful to see whether or not this happens for all projects or if it’s only for particular types of project.

Hi Mitchell,

I installed a trial version last week and started creating my projects. I changed to project leads to the correct users and created the administrators of the projects. I expected the administrators to see the sidebar but that was not the case. I noticed the changes when I upgraded to version 7.7.1.

The Team leads on the other projects can see the the sidebar menu. I assigned myself as a team lead to one of the other projects but nothing changed.

So I don’t believe this is related to whether they are a Project Lead or not, but suggests there is an Error when trying to load this page. Check to see what comes through to the atlassian-jira.log file when this page is loading

There are no errors shows in the logs. Tried multiple times. That feature is not generating any errors.

The logs don't show any errors. Once I have more info I'll be in tough

Two things to check:

I’m not convinced that’s the problem you’re seeing from what you’ve explained but may be worth looking at.

Also, can you check to see whether or not there are any errors showing in the browser console. Have you tried this on different browsers?
