One of our clients use to receive email notifications when someone commented on the Issue tickets, all of a sudden they don't receive any notifications anymore
The first thing to check is if other notifications are received, to check if the email is configured correctly.
It could also be that the Notification scheme has been modified, in that case with the Notification helper you will be able to see if the user will receive a notification when a comment is added:
I've seen a similar situation before, and it was probably a glitch in JIRA as it was resolved automatically the next day.
...It's true that there are projects in Jira; but they are merely a way to cut off issues, to tell them apart from other sections of work and to apply rules that are specific to that team (the schemes)....
