workflow validator for email request

Hi, I have a next-gen service desk project and I am trying to setup workflow validation for a transition.  when I go to the project settings > Request type > Email request and then I click on "Edit workflow".  I click on a transition and I see I can add rules but I can't add a field validation. I would like to make a transition validator so that time spent must have a value before it can be put in "done" status.

Can this be done?

Welcome to Atlassian Community!

On next-gen projects, it's possible to only add rules on transitions. Validators are available for Classic projects.

As per the details you provided, the rule "Remind people to update empty fields" seems to fit. 

Have you tried to use this rule?
