how can I generate automatic reports from JIRA exporting a CSV file.

Nikhil Patil December 1, 2022

Dear Team,

we need to create automated report regarding some specific project from JIRA in CSV file and that report needs to be sent to specific user mail Id on particular day and at specific time.
For e.g) User A has raise ticket by using an Email to ticket functionality. As he is not able to directly log in into JIRA we need automated reports in CSV format containing fields such as Reporter, Created Time, ticket number , summary , Description, assignee group, assignee, status, updated , comment report, and resolved time to be send to that user.

The report needs to created and shared to the particular user via mail on weekly and monthly basis.

And also we are using automation for JIRA plugin so can we acheive our requirement using automation rules .

Please guide me.

@Nikhil Patil Generating Jira reports and sending them automatically is possible by using Better Excel Exporter and Better Excel Automation (free) combined. However, they generate native Excel spreadsheets, not CSV. Would that suffice or is CSV a hard requirement for some reason?

Hi @Nikhil Patil and welcome to the community!

The short answer is that this is not possible natively.  The closest thing you could do is create a filter with a subscription.  However, this provides the results in the body of the email, not csv.

Here's a link to the marketplace with a search for csv export:

Hi @Nikhil Patil ,

If you are talking about Jira Service Management, you might take a look at the addon we developed that is called Advanced Portal Reports. With it you can give portal customers access to a table view of all tickets in the project with information in columns about all those fields that you mention. The portal users will be able to arrange the table however they wish and also export it in csv or excel, if needed.

Best regards,

Elitsa
