I would like to know if we can create specific custom fields per issue type within a project. For example, I would need some specific fields to IT Help issue type and some other ones to Bug issue type.

Hi Marcus, one last thing: once we configured the custom fileds to one specific issue type, can we configure them to make them appear automatically when we select such or such issue type during the issue creation? thanks in advance melissa

You can add a context to your Custom Fields created.
Custom field contexts can be set to either different Projects or Issue Types.
