When create new ticket in JIRA, original reporter name is changed

Hi All,

When any of the user create a new ticket using create ticket API, ticket getting created but the original reporter name is changed and always created with the admin user name.

Original user is not getting any notification also.

I am not sure is it any configuration change or need to add few parameters while calling create ticket API. Can anyone help me on fixing this issue?

Hello @Rachael Harris 

Could you please check the default assignee from the user and role section ? 

It should be the administrator , you can edit it . or let it unassigned .

Could you keep me posted please ?

In user section i did not find any option to change default assignee and also in Groups section.

Can you please provide me the steps to change default assignee.

Hi All,

Can someone help me on the above issue ?

I am unable track, who is creating the issue using JIRA API because every time reporter name is same. Original user is not getting any notification because his username/email id is not mentioned anywhere.

User section is under the project , not the administration section , exactly in users and role .

Hi Karim,

I tried for long time but no where  found to make the default assignee to unassigned.

as per the below link we do not have option in JIRA cloud to change the default assignee and i am also using jira cloud.

Hello @Rachael Harris 

As you are in cloud , the design it's a little bit different .

So please perform theese actions :

1. Go to your project 

2. Click project settings

3. Click Summary 

In the bottom of the page and under the project lead field  you will find Default Responsable make it unassigned please .

Hi Karim,

I changed the default assignee to unassigned, earlier it was project lead. 

I just created one ticket after the changes but reporter name did not change only assignee is become unassigned. Please see the below screen shot.

TestLoan0407 was before change and TestTicket0408 is after change the default assignee to unassigned.

Do i need to change anything in the create issue API, everything was working as expected before but from last few months it is not working.

Hi Karim,

My issue got fixed. We found out that there is a small change in create issue API in jira cloud and the change is to set the accountid value to raiseOnBehalfOf parameter.
