Sending or Forwarding an External Email to a Specific JIRA

How do I send an email to or forward an email to a specific JIRA?  I tried setting up POP/IMAP and mail handlers, but my knowledge on how to configure these things is very limited and I had a hard time figuring it out from the instructions provided by JIRA.  Need help.

What is the purpose of this? Are you trying to create tickets based of emails or monitoring alerts?

Forwarding emails to be included as comments in a JIRA.

or "attaching" them to a JIRA without opening up the JIRA and placing a saved email string in the attachments.
