Send Mails after adding a User to a custom field

Hi,

is there a possibility to send an e-mail to a user/ usergroup after a user/group is manually added to a custom field? I'm familiar with adding listeners and adding events whilst workflow transitions are performed. 

But I wonder if there's a solution for custom user field which are manually updated

Yes it's possible. You can have a listener and in the listener you can check if a specific field has been updated or not and if the field has been updated then you can send the mail to the new value (username) added to that custom field .
