Return by Due Date

I've successfully created a step in my workflow that allows a user enter a "sleep" state and when it's in that state it pauses the SLA. However, I want to add a custom due date field, but am having troubles figuring out how to get the ticket to automatically return from the sleep state when the due date is hit. Any help would be much appreciated.

If you have ScriptRunner installed, I just explained to another user how to accomplish this using their Escalation Service -
