Is there a way to rename the system field Summary?
Our customer needs the name changed and is very unhappy that we have to use this field on the Create Screen to submit an issue. Is there a workaround?

You can't modify the name of the Summary field natively.
I'd also be cautious if you do an alternative way - for two reasons...
Every issue is going to need a Summary (or "title") - I think it's better to coach users on this, and that this is just part of Atlassian's glossary of terms - same with "issue" rather than card or ticket.

However, one alternative is to use an App, such as...
...to modify the field on the GUI instead.
For example, with Scriptrunner, you could use a "Behaviour" to set the Summary's label to something else - eg. Title.

Our customer has their own instance and utilizes software projects and the Create button. We will have to hope they will accept that we cannot rename the Summary field.
I'll look into using Script Runner.

Hi there:
Unfortunately, Summary field is a system default field which cannot be renamed. However, you can change the display name of this field in the JSM's Request Form to control how it shows up when customers submit their issues via the Portal UI.

Our customer has a Software Project and uses the Create button to create their issues. Their projects are the only projects on the instance and they want the Summary field renamed.
