Project notification email change doesn't work

1, we have settings in jira outgoing mail server:

from no-reply@xxx.com

SMTP host

username abc@xxx.com

2, in project setting, notification email is no-reply@xxx.com

 

when jira service desk send out mail to customer, it is no-reply@xxx.com

 

After I change 2 to ddd@xxx.com in project notification setting, customer will receive abc@xxx.com as set in jira outgoing mail server.

But I want customer to receive ddd@xxx.com.

 

Have I missed anything? why doesn't it work to change only in project setting?

Hi! 

that's better to check smtp relay side. 

Sometimes easier to use relay which will not set the original account and can help to use a sender header not only FROM.
