JSM Login-free project homepage redirecting to login page

Hello everyone,

I recently updated my instance of Jira Software (Data Center) to version 9.4.1 and Service Management to 5.4.1 in order to try out the long-awaited login-free portal. However, I am experiencing some strange behavior and I am unsure if I have configured it correctly.

To provide some background on my configuration:

• I have all of my plugins up to date and I am using a couple related to Service Management: the Theme extension for Jira Service Desk and the Extension for Jira Service Desk.
• I am using Atlassian Crowd for internal users and the internal Jira database for new "external" users who can register to the portal.
• I have read the suggested page https://confluence.atlassian.com/servicemanagement/introducing-the-login-free-portal-for-jira-service-management-1155497450.html and applied all of the required configuration changes.

My goal is to have one portal with multiple projects, some of which are open to the public and some of which are private and only accessible to registered users with certain groups.

I have applied the changes from the suggested page to the project that I want to be public. I have the confirmation that it is public from the pop-up that appears when I enter the project settings that says "Login-free portal is enabled for your project."

However, when browsing the portal as an anonymous user, I am observing the following:

1. I can access the direct link to the login-free project request types - for example, something like https://yourjirasite.com/plugins/servlet/theme/portal/1/create/1
2. If I go to the project homepage, I am redirected to the login page - for example, something like https://yourjirasite.com/plugins/servlet/theme/portal/1. I would expect this page to be accessible to anonymous users.
3. If I go to the portal home page - for example, something like https://yourjirasite.com/plugins/servlet/theme/portal/all - Ideally, I would like this page to be accessible to anonymous users where they would see the login-free projects, and logged-in users with the right groups would see more projects.

I apologize for the long post, but I am a bit confused on how to fix this.
