Dear Fellows,
I have a question when JIRA Service Desk is down what happens to the inbound emails flowing in during the downtime? Will tickets still be created for these emails once JIRA is up again? or not?
Please advise.
When you send an email "to Jira", you are not really sending it there directly. You are sending an email to an address which is a post-box. The networks take your mail and deliver it to the box, and then Jira empties the box later.
It's a lot like the postal system I have at home. Someone sends me a letter (mostly bills, sadly), the post office gets it from them and delivers it to my house. My post box is unusual in the UK, it's not a slot in the front door, it's a drop-box on the gate. The post person drops the mail in there. When I remember, I go to the post-box and pick them up.
I'm currently on "downtime", failing to travel home from Summit. So the post-box has 2 weeks of letters in it waiting for me to next open it and pick them up. Same with Jira - it won't get any mail while it is at Summit, but it will work through the mail in the in-box when it gets home!
Thanks, @Nic Brough -Adaptavist- . Perfect example, I got it.
