Is there a way to use regex in an automation for fill components field?

Luanna Gobbato January 6, 2021

We use components field for assign issues to certain assignees, but it's a multiple choice field, and I don't want clients choosing more than one component, so I've created one custom field single choice, I was trying to make an automation that check the custom field and fill in components the one that matches with the content choose by the client.

Is there some way to do it without using Ifs statements, because there are 42 possibilities.

Someone can help me with a work around or something like it?

@Luanna Gobbato, sure you can do that.

Here's what I did. I created a custom field of type single select list called "Test".

I used the field updated trigger and told it to set my component field to whatever the value of "Test" was using smart values. All you need to do is choose the custom field name you want and update the smart value to match.

Didn't think smart values worked for components too.

Thank you very much, it was much easier than I thought.
