Is it possible that assigned task types can be changed during processing?

Edited

Hello,

We are currently looking into the possibility of using Jira Service Management in the Data Center version.

Is it possible that assigned task types can be changed during processing and thus also the automatic change of workflows to the associated task type?
As an example: If a Change Management Process has been opened, but it actually needs to be assigned to the classification of an Incident Management Process.

Is there a solution, for this?

Thanks in advance

Hi @Morten Dieckmann-Keden ,

When issue types have different configuration (e.g. a different workflows), you can't change the issue type by simply editting it.
Because you would possibly need to map a different status, or fill out different required fields for that issue type.

If you want to change the issue type in this case you need to do a "move" (in the More menu).

Moving an issue (from one project to another, or one issuetype to another) requires specific project permissions.

More info here

Hope this helps!

Hey Tessa,

thanks for your answer.

Unlickily I can't find the "move" Possibilty in the more menu. How do I find that?

And second in the article it says use the move issue wizard. How do I find that?

Thanks in advance?

Hi @Morten Dieckmann-Keden ,

If you don't find the "Move" button under more, you probably do not have the "Move Issues" permission for the project that has that issue.
You can check this with your project or jira admins.

If you do find the button, it will take you to the "Move wizard", where you map statusses and field if necessary.

I now found a way to do it thank you!

Hi @Morten Dieckmann-Keden ,

if my answer helped, please accept it so other users an find it when having similar questions :)

Have a great day!

I don't know if you ment it this way but I found the following possibilities to solve my question.

There are threee variants to this problem.
1. Workflow
2. Create linked task
3. Move

I think you ment the third one but it was not visible for me in the first place.

But your question also helped me so thank you Tessa!

Cheers
