Integration Github with Jira Service Desk projects

Roberto Gracia September 17, 2018

We have integrated our Github with our Jira Projects. Recently we started to use Jira Service Desk and we don't see that integration (not able to see our Github code link in the Service Desk tickets like we do with Jira Project tasks.

Can you help with this?

Thanks!

Hey Roberto,

Service Desk projects don't contain the development panel functionality, only Software projects which is why you won't see any development information.

You can read more here to see the major feature differences between projects: Jira Applications Overview

In most situations, where a development task needs to be created, a linked issue is created to hold the developer details and the Service Desk ticket is updated with any customer facing updates.

The Service Desk automation rules can be used to automatically update the ticket.

Let me know if this answers your question.

Cheers,

Keri

Hi Keri,

When you say a linked issue is created, where does that happen?  In JIRA software or the tool used to manage the development functionality?

Thank you.

It doesn't matter, because the issue links is both ways.

If you link a Service Desk/Manager ticket with a Jira Software issue, the other is linked back.
