How to duplicate issue with automation and workflow

Knight Xu April 20, 2022

Hi Team,

How could I clone issue automatically when approvers approved.

For example:

Customer added new comment into a closed case, then the case status would be changed into "New comment added", meanwhile it would trigger a approval.

After approvers approve, the case would be clone into another new duplicate case.

It is possible to make it?

Hi @Knight Xu and welcome to the community!

You could either trigger off of "Approval Completed" or assuming that upon approval the issue transitions to a new status, you could trigger off of "Issue Transitioned".  Then you would add a "Clone Issue" action.

Hi Mark,

I did not get it very clearly, please make it more specific.

And I really need to clone a closed case into another new duplicate case.

I did not figure out that way of setting as your advice.

From my interpretation of your requirement, you would want two rules:

RULE #1 - Transition on Comment

  • TRIGGER:  Comment Added
  • CONDITION:  Status = Done
  • CONDITION:  (Optional) Any other logic you may want to apply
  • ACTION: Transition to "New Comment Added"

This assumes you've set up your approval on New Comment Added

RULE #2 - Clone

  • TRIGGER:  Transition to (the status your approval transitions to)
  •  ACTION: Clone Issue

Thank you, Mark.

It seems that it is not avaliable on my version.

Thanks for your help again.
