How to adjust Service Desk Mail Handler

Greetings All,

I have been searching for a way to adjust how emails are translated into new issues or added as comments to existing issues for our help desk. We are using the Cloud based Jira Service Desk and have setup our own email address from outlook. This is working well however despite going to JIRA Settings > Products > Jira Service Desk > Email requests and setting the option to strip quotes and enable HTML email parsing to enabled status our issues are created with overly verbose descriptions. Reviewing the logs it seems that everything is being processed by the "Service Desk Mail Handler" which is default to JSD and I do not see any way to select a alternative handler or setup a custom one.

Is there a way to adjust how this specific handler manages this?

Is there a way to choose a different handler protocol?

If the answer to these two questions is no then I hope we are not alone in this desire for configurability and ask what solutions others have employed.
