How do I activate an inactive workflow

We are trying to implement change management through Jira SD. However, we see there is a predefined change management options, but they are still unable to fulfil my requirements. What would you suggest if I wanted to create a new change management active workflow through Jira and help me in completing this. As of now I am trying the trail version to check will this be a suitable platform to bring up my change management process flow.

To make a workflow active, associate it with a project.

You do that by putting the workflow into a workflow scheme (which tells Jira which issue types should use it for a project) and then change a project so that it uses that scheme.

Active means "in use by one or more project/issue-types", it's not something that you set directly.
