Create subtasks from insight objects on an issue

I have an issue type where a customer selects some insight object from a fairly long list. I am hoping to find a way in data center to loop through the items selected and for each one automate the creation of a subtask. This seems to be available in Automation for Jira in cloud, but not in DC, and I cannot find anything relating to this with Automation or with Script Runner.

Has anyone done something similar that can help me out here?
