Cancel Current Event in Jira

Hello,

i try to setup the functionality, that someone with Jira Project Admin rights cant Add, Delete or Update Project Roles.

The Goal is, that this functionality is limited to Global Jira Admins.

At the moment i try to set this up with Script Runner and Custom Listeners, but i dont get the current event to stop and cancel the action.

Im Trying this on Jira Data Center.

Greetings,

Dennis

Hello @Dennis Ebner,

Welcome to the community!

Project admins assign and remove members from project roles, jira admins define and delete project roles.

If you want someone to be able to create, delete or edit project roles, you need to grant that person jira admin rights.

I don't clearly understand what do you want? What are you trying to do with scriptrunner?

Best regards,

Marko Blagus

Hello @Marko Blagus,

we want the Project admins to be allowed to change Workflows and create components.

But they should not be allowed to add, change or delete Users out of the Project, this should only be allowed to users with global Admin rights.

We already hide the Roles button in the project settings, but we also want to ensure that users without global admin rights (project admins) cannot independently change the roles for employees in their project.

Thanks and best regards,

Dennis

Hi @Dennis Ebner,

What's the project type, team-managed or company-managed?

If it's team-managed, project admin must have administrators permission, it will allow him to manage users in project and edit project workflows and components.

If you remove that permission from him, he won't be project admin anymore and won't be able to edit workflows too.

If it's company-managed, project admin can't edit workflows.

Best regards,

Marko Blagus

Hello @Marko Blagus

if i group the projects on Data Center like that, i would say the projects are team managed, because project admins are able to edit project workflows and components.

But as i said, i want to block the request to edit, add oder delete of project users, for project admins. If im a global Jira admin, i want still be able to do this requests.

I think with script runner i can get the possibility to block the events of update, add or delete users out of the project to happen. As i said, global admins still should be able to do that.

Thanks and best regards,

Dennis Ebner

Hi @Dennis Ebner,

Here is a problem similar to yours, take a look at it.

I think with Scriptrunner you can't block these actions.

Best regards,

Marko Blagus
