Block notifications for participants

Krystian May 7, 2020

Dear Community,

I tried to find the solution but unfortunately, I couldn't.

Is there any way to block notifications sent to participants?

We use "email request" function to track our email conversations in Jira. Unfortunately all people from email are added to "Request participants" field, which is OK, but we would like to block all notifications sent to participants in particular service desk.

Is there any way to do it? I tried to modify notification scheme but I couldn't find any way to exclude roles/fields.

Hello @Krystian

Thank you for reaching out.

Per your description, I understand you would like to block issue notifications from being sent to the customers added as request participants in the issues of a project. Is that correct?

The Request participants field was created to allow customers and organizations to view, comment, and receive notifications about a request. They receive customer notifications, which are not related to the notification scheme. In other words:

  1. Under project settings > Customer Notifications, you will configure your customer notifications, related to service desk Reporters (Customers) and Request participants.
  2. Under project settings > Notifications, you can configure your notification scheme for your internal team, related to Jira Admins and Agents.

That being said, these would be the steps to properly disable the notifications for request participants:

  1. Navigate to your Project > Project settings > Customer Notifications
  2. Click to edit the notifications that you don't want the request participants to receive and remove the "Customers involved" from the notification, adding only the "Reporter (Customer)" in the notification and save it:

Thank you! It looks like I've just understood the differences between those notification schemes.
