I'm trying to create an Automation to sum up in EPIC of the hours logged in child tickets and the total should be in the a custom field visible
I did something like this below but i could not make it work. Anyone has experience with this ?
Hey Baris - I'm a little confused because in your original request you said you were trying to get a Sum of hours worked for all child tickets of an Epic. But in various places in your rule (both your original and your edited version) you refer to remaining estimate.
I would double-check all your smart values to ensure that the only thing you are adding up is timeSpent.
My other observation is that you probably don't want to be editing the Original Estimate field, because again, that's a field used for estimating hours not actual time spent. The subject of your post says "total should be in the a cust". So what is the custom field where you want to store the total?
If in fact you are trying to do something other than just get time spent, then can you please more clearly state that. Because your rules show something different.

I was trying to get a result on those fields, remaining estimate, original estimate or any custom field. So the original request remains the same sum up in EPIC the hours logged in child tickets.
If i add some logged time in different child tickets that should be added to a custom field. I've created a custom field " logged in epic"
So if you have any solution would be great.

If you just want the running total of work logged, I would create and test a newer, simpler rule, following the example @Mark Segall gives here:
It simply adds time to the Parent's Work Log whenever child work is logged. No custom field required at all.
I'm not clear how that effects estimates. Maybe it's smart enough to also show / total that.

Hi @Baris ,
there are a number of post referencing this task. If you look in the related content section in the right sidebar you will see a few including this one - How-to-use-automation-to-sum-up-in-EPIC-the-hours-logged-in... . I would suggest starting with the existing posts as there is a lot of good info already in place. If none of that helps please post back here.

Thanks for the clarification Baris. I was unaware of what research you had done. I am out of pocket today but will check back in here tonight. If others don't chime in with potential solutions I will have a go.
cheers

Can you share the details of your results? What actually happens with your current rule? What does the audit log file show?
