Wrong person shown as making the action (in activity and also outgoing mail)

Janne Toikander April 25, 2019

Were using:

JIRA Service Desk 3.15.3
Jira Software 7.12.3

There's now multiple occurrences of this exact same issue.

See this picture.

- The first user in the "Activity stream image", "Robot" (who's also the main admin of the Jira platform) is shown as making the status transition (even though it was the the same person as commenting the issue)

- Both events can be seen happening at the exact same time 10:30

What's worse, is that the outgoing email (to our customers) is sent out saying that the "Robot" has made the changes to the issue!

The "Robot"-person is our main JIRA admin, who does not do anything in the Service Desk -environment.

Where to start solving this issue?!

My first guess is that there is an automation involved and the “run as” is the robot.

Thank you - found the cause. It was indeed that default "Run as" for the Service Desk automation rules was the admin user.
