Why do I need global admin permissions to add a customer via API?

JamesGeddes August 6, 2020

Hi everyone,

Further to

https://developer.atlassian.com/cloud/jira/service-desk/rest/api-group-customer/#api-rest-servicedeskapi-customer-post

On an account that has been granted project admin permissions, but not global admin permissions,

  • As a human using the UI, I can add a new customer
  • As a bot using the API, I can not add a new customer

What is the reason for this disparity?

Thanks!

James

The reason is because The organization concept in Jira ServiceDesk is a global entity rather than a project level entity . (Customers ultimately are  linked to Jira ServiceDesk Organization(s) )

Cheers

Not sure I follow - why is the same account allowed to add a customer as a human?
