Service Desk Web Portal - line breaks in field help?

When configuring the web portal is there a way to get line breaks inthe field help text? I'd like to provide a bulletted list of things for people to consider putting in the description when raising incidents, and I can't see a way to do this.

I realised that it accepts jira wiki markup, and so I was able to use the newline symbol \\

Atlassian has published this document to show what is possible:

Newlines are OK, but others markups (* for bloding, h1. for heading) is not working. Is there any solution for that?
