Blacklisting emails from specific domains

James Whayman September 7, 2018

Hello. I'm using a Google Groups account to receive mail from my clients. I have set-up Service Desk to fetch emails from this account, and it's working nicely.

My problem is that, I get few emails from 3rd-party websites, things like project status updates from Trello, Dropbox, etc. which get added as issues in Service Desk.

How can I blacklist certain email addresses, so new issues aren't automatically created for these types of emails?

I've tried doing it in Google Groups, but it doesn't seem to let you filter emails at a Group level. I've read about pre-processing from this article but I can't see where I would set up these rules in Service Desk.

Thanks in advance!

Hello James,

The instructions provided in the article you mentioned is for issues created on JIRA Core and Software.

For JIRA Service Desk, the e-mail Handler works a little bit different, since you will receive messages from external customers and not JIRA users.

To properly handle the e-mail as you need, you can use the plugin Enterprise E-mail Handler for JIRA.

Also, you can use the captcha feature to prevent SPAM e-mails as described in the documentation below:

Thanks, Petterson. I'll give it a go!

You are welcome, James.

Let us know if you face further questions configuring the E-mail Handler or the Captcha feature.
