Smart Values - Product Discovery Projects

Kevin Rigard November 10, 2024

Is it possible to use smart values in automation for Project Fields in Jira Product Discovery?

If so, what is the taxonomy or how do we determine the field ID?

Hi @Kevin Rigard ,

Yes it should be possible, but I guess it just depends on what field-type you are mapping to, and the use case. Feel free to share more about this, and maybe we can provide some suggestions.

Check out this page as well on how to find your JPD field's ID.

Hi @Kevin Rigard

What is the image you are showing as it appears to be the one in a JPD project's settings to add other fields?

Regarding your question about smart values, those are used in automation rules...the fields associated to an issue type, such as an Idea in JPD, usually have a smart value to refer to them.  The exceptions are the calculated and code-based fields, such as the dynamic weighting features of JPD.

To learn the smart values (or their custom field ids) for fields supported by automation rules, please use this how-to article: https://support.atlassian.com/cloud-automation/docs/find-the-smart-value-for-a-field/

Kind regards,
Bill
