Hey,
me and my team are at a point where we have a lot of different ideas in JPD - which is great so far! We try to map important and relevant interdependencies via "link issue" but this only goes so far. Is there a way to create a "network map" of all the different relations between our ideas? Or is that something that you will/won't work on in the future?
Best, Benedict!
Hi Benedict,
At the moment it is not possible to "visualize" dependencies between Jira Product Discovery issues the same way you would on Advanced roadmaps for example.
As suggested by Timothy, you could build a dashboard gadget per idea to see which ideas are linked to it, and I am not familiar enough with the Asset management side to know what could be possible here.
From within Jira Product Discovery, if you are only using the "link issue" feature to link Jira Product Discovery ideas between them (and not other Jira issues) You could add the field in a view and even create some formatting around it. That's still not a visualization map, but in that way, you can easily spot the ones that have no dependencies, and the ones that are highly interconnected (eventually even adding this field to a formula, to give more or less weight to these ideas in your prioritization scorecard.
And to answer your last question, yes we are exploring better visualizations capabilities in Jira Product Discovery for the upcoming quarters, so stay tuned ;)
Cheers,
Hermance
I've used the Links Hierarchy plugin to do something similar to this...not sure if it's JPD compatible but might be worth a try.

Something to consider in the mean time here is to utilize JQL reporting/dashboards to create this for issues that you're focused on. You can accomplish this by completing the following JQL
issue in linkedIssues("IDEA-123")
Apologies if this doesn't give you what you were looking for, but it seems like a good bet with what's currently available. Hope it helps.

Thank you for your input Timothy, however we are trying to get the "biggest" picture yet by visualizing all the "big picture" ideas in one map. So this will only work with all of them at once or not work at all. Still, what you shared is helpful for really deep diving one idea.

I wonder if you can use Assets/Insights to build out a network map of everything relating to the idea. If not, then JPD should have something similar to Assets/Insights that allows you to see the relationships around an idea.
