Automatically retrieve the value of a custom field from the description

Hello,

Is it possible to automatically retrieve the value of a custom field from the description of an idea in Jira Product Discovery?

Please find below more context:

I have 4 custom fields for a RICE (Reach Impact Confidence and Effort) score. We are using the description of the idea to explain the rationale behind each value.

For instance, if I assign a value of 5 to Impact in the custom field, can the description automatically reflect this value? If I update the custom field, can the description be automatically updated as well?

Hi @julvon -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

For your scenario of updating the Description field, that is possible using an automation rule.

The rule could be triggered on changes to the four custom fields and then update the Description.  The key to this scenario is the layout of your Description field.  For example, if the RICE score is has a particular location / layout it will be easier to make the update, such as

Here is some text...

RICE score: 1234

more text...
