Well, September is upon us. (Um… How did that happen?) We’ve been busy in Jira world, polishing and turbocharging our collection of mobile and tablet apps for both iOS and Android. Here’s what’s new and upcoming:
Remote work is more relevant than ever. For some tasks, bigger screens are more convenient – but easy portability is still desirable. So we’ve created Jira for Android tablet, delivering a slick Jira experience that matches the existing iPad version. Hurrah!
The entire tablet and iPad experience is optimized for the tablet/iPad screen size. The UX isn’t floating somewhere between a smartphone and desktop experience; it’s streamlined specifically for tablet and iPad. Check it out and discover:
Don’t waste time hunting for crucial development info and build statuses in multiple places. Instead, connect your work to the code itself. All the important stuff – build statuses, branches, deployments – can now appear within your associated Jira issues. If you’ve already integrated your projects with 1st- and 3rd-party development tools via Jira’s web version, they’ll appear in the mobile app without any additional setup. Too easy.
When you open an issue, you’ll instantly see a summary of linked pull requests, commits, builds, deployments. (And repository details are coming soon too!)

A core part of many Jira users' workflows are Atlassian Marketplace apps. Great news – the Jira mobile and Mac apps now support some of the 3rd-party issue-based apps* within the issue view, including Tempo, Better PDF Exporter, Issue Checklist, and Git Integration.
Once integrated with Jira, you’ll be able to see and interact with your Marketplace apps* from within your Jira issues. The time-saving possibilities that come from integrating your tools are enormous.
*Not all 3rd-party apps are currently available in the Jira apps. More 3rd-party apps will become available in future as the 3rd-party apps' developers build their product functionality. Make sure you’re using the latest version of the Jira app to see whether your 3rd-party app is available in Jira.
We’ve refined the login process across all the Jira apps, and beefed up the security, too. You can sign in quickly and easily using your Apple or Microsoft verified account, and (if you like) you can apply an extra layer of security to the Jira app by requiring local authentication.
Getting a super quick overview of your most important stuff can be an enormous time-saver and stress-reliever.
Dashboards containing your favorite gadgets are winding their way to the mobile and tablet apps. Rejoice!
You’ll be able to see summaries of (for example) work that’s assigned to you, work that you’re watching, and instantly access your personal filters (without wasting precious seconds clicking through multiple menus, several times a day).
For managers, monitoring multiple project statuses and keeping on top of concurrent deadlines is easier than ever with a single, personalized dashboard. In an instant, see how everything’s tracking, without the need to obtain status updates from multiple places.
We’re building the most-used gadgets first (such as issue lists, pie charts, and tables) and rolling them out gradually.
Interacting with your 3rd-party developer tools from within the app will soon be possible.
Without having to navigate between multiple products, you’ll be able to access and update all of your dev-tool information directly from linked issues in the app, including pull requests, commits, repositories, and builds – right down to specific code within individual branches. It’ll enable you to save time, and move work forward faster.
That’s it from us! Until next time, stay safe and well.
Download the app for iOS or Android. And don't forget, you can sign up to be a beta tester to get early access as we make updates.
