What is a real login in the atlassian-jira-security.log?

Manuel June 4, 2019

Hi,

I want to analyze how often users logged in by typing credentials into JIRA the last week to get a overview if a SSO Plugin would generate a benefit.

With login i mean:

  • The user is getting the login screen and types the credentials to log in

I do not mean:

  • The users opens the browser again and is recognized by a cookie

In atlassian-jira-security.log i have two types of login information.

Rows with:

  • XXXXX   /login.jsp HttpSession created

and rows with

  • XXXXX   /login.jsp The user 'XXXXX' has PASSED authentication.

Which from both is a "real" login?

I thought it should be the second entry but I'm wondering why I have twice as much "PASSED..." than "created..." in my log.

Maybe the users are not using the "Remember me" function or I'm wrong with my suggestion... Anybody knows the answer?

Best Regards

Manuel
