Searching for flagged issues with JQL doesn't work unless Flagged field is set to "show"

This question is in reference to Atlassian Documentation: Flagging an issue

In JIRA 7, the "Flagged" field seems to be hidden by default, which means you can't successfully search for it with JQL, nor with the basic search.  I had to get a JIRA administrator to show the field in order for the documented query to work.
