Deletion of boards

Dear all,

Can removing a board that is plugged into a project cause any changes to e.g. active sprints? What I mean is that one project has several unnecessary Sprint boards. They display active sprints, but only one board is valid. If I remove the other boards, won't that one board be corrupted in some way?

Best regards,

Deleting a board shouldn't impact any other boards.  I frequently say that a board is just a really fancy way to view filter results and interact with them.

That said, test it first!  Create a new project, make two or more dummy boards, and set up your sprint(s) in the same way before deleting dummy boards and see what happens.

"After deleting a project or board in Jira, the Sprints that were originated or were being used in those are not removed from Jira, which may leave traces of them still identifiable through JQLs, or issue data...

It is relevant to mention that, in Jira, sprints are not tied to a specific project or board, this means that a sprint will appear and may be used on any board(s)."

Thanks @padraik for your response. I'va asked because I did a test. I've created a random project as you said with sprints. One sprint had been active and was visiable on those board. When I've created a new sprint on this board it was just on that one and when I deleted the board this sprint also has been deleted.

For a sprint to show up on a board, the board's filter must return at least one issue that is in that sprint.

could you paste the board names and the filters you are using for each one?  My assumption is that the board is not showing the new sprint because its filter does not return any of the issues you assigned to that sprint in the other board.

OR it's possible that you just created a sprint and left it empty.  If that's the case, the other board(s) will not know that the sprint exists until one of their issues are assigned to it.

Okay, thanks. It could be that case with an empty sprint.
