I downloaded apps like the dependency mapper, but they do not appear in the tool bar under my projects, I am new to Jira and do not know how to add it for easy access.

Different apps can have slightly different ways to enable them for your projects, but most follow the steps in the attached image.

This might not be the ideal solution but depending on the number of projects using this app, you could add a shortcut (basically just the URL of the app) to the project's navigation (see my screenshot - under Recurring Tasks).

If you have the 9 dots in the upper left hand corner, click on it and see if it's listed there. If not, scroll to bottom and click on Manage. There you can add it to the list. We use this for quick access to many area in Atlassian products and the internet. Hope this helps.
