How to view Roadmap at Initiative (or any non-epic) level?

Hey all! I've got a Jira Premium subscription and am taking advantage of the custom hierarchy offered within the advanced Roadmap. I've currently got two levels built above Epics, but to spare you the dirty details, my question is relatively simple.

How can I see a view like the Roadmap view (Gantt of epic timelines) but with non-epic issue types?

In all of my searching, it doesn't appear to be a feature I can obtain within the existing Roadmap view (I'm hoping one of you proves me wrong here). If I'm right, is there a plug-in or otherwise that offers a straightforward approach to this?

I greatly appreciate your assistance!

Regards,

David

P.S. How this functionality is NOT offered in Jira already is beyond me. It seems like a pretty basic/common use case.

When you create a new Advanced Roadmap, one of the settings is to determine the hierarchy that you want to see on that particular roadmap. The settings are under "Filters".  The first filter is "Hierarchy".  If you want to see Initiatives, make sure your Hierarchy filter starts at that level.

Also, maybe you know this or not already, but if all the issues you want to see are all contained in the same Jira Project, there is a very nice Project-Level Roadmap feature that you can use, that gives you a nice Gantt timeline and milestones, etc.  It's part of the Board Settings in the Project.

Mark - Thank you so much for your reply. As I mentioned in my comment above to Sangeeta, you helped me uncover the fatal flaw in my understanding - I did not realize the Advanced Roadmap functionality lived separately from the project-based Roadmap view. Now that I've found the Advanced Roadmap area (which with the title of "Plans" is a bit subtle), I've confirmed I've got the view I need! Thank you again for taking the time to assist.

With JIRA Premium you get Advanced Roadmaps. In the settings advanced roadmaps (need to be JIRA Admin) you will define your issue hierarchy (above Epics). Then use the Parent Link field (Unlocked by Advanced Roadmaps) to create the parent child relationship between your tickets. Hope that helps

To add on:  to set the hierarchy, go to the filters (upper left hand) and set the beginning hierarchy to what you have create above the epics.

Curt - thank you for the reply. I'm familiar with configuring the hierarchy levels. I was hung up in thinking my only roadmap view was limited to the project-based roadmap view. I didn't realize this separate "Plans" section was the portal to the customizable views.

@David Gruener the Roadmap feature that you see in Jira that same view is not available in Advanced Roadmap. You can look at the same information in different ways but Advanced Roadmaps does not have that built in like the Roadmap view you are trying to get to. Thanks!
