Hi All. I am having difficulty with board access. I created a Company managed board. I have a contractor who cannot see the board and gets the "Board Not Accessible" message. I have looked at her permissions and it looks like she should have access. But when I log into her, the board won't open. She has no problem seeing Team Managed Board. Help! :)
Hi Clare,
If you created a Company-managed board against a Team-managed project, you have to have a value in the Location field in the board settings. And you can't use the Team-managed project name there. So, whatever project you put in there, the contractor will need Browse Project permissions on that project.
Check following:

Have you looked at the permissions on the filter used to create the board? We just ran into this issue and the filter was set up as private. Even I, as a jira admin, could not see the board. To correct the issue, go to the filter > details > to change the filter permissions.

We had a similar issue with different errors but similar symptoms, our problem was the contractor didn't have rights to the issue filter the board used to populate the issues.

there are some other posts (e.g. 1, 2) which share the same problem. However, the people never really got back with their solutions - but you might have more luck.
Based on the error message, it seems to be a problem with the board location. Can you verify the board location if it's assigned to a location where the user has access to?
Here's also the main excerpt from the linked page (to edit the location, but you can also view it like this):
To change a board's location:
Navigate to the board and choose > Board settings.
Under General, select the Location field
Type the name of the project or your name and choose the new location.
Does that help?
Cheers,
Matthias.

It didn't worked for me.
I even changed the location to other project and back and it didn't helped.
Location is set correctly, filter permissions and browse project permissions are set also correctly but we are still facing that issue in case of "customer" role...
Thanks for any other suggestions
Tomas

On Atlassian university there is a class on Jira permissions that I think is free. I highly recommend that.
Can you share what permissions you have on Browse Project and the groups your contractor is in?

For now, I went back and created a team managed project for the contractors to use.
I will continue to research using feedback I received here. Thanks!
