It REALLY shouldn't be this difficult to get Sprints to show up on a Roadmap!
I am using Jira Cloud PREMIUM.
The project I want a roadmap for is a COMPANY-MANAGED project.
The Board I am using includes only ONE project.
The sprint I have defined HAS A START AND END DATE.
The sprint has issues in it and is active.
YET! The sprints are not showing across the top of the STANDARD (NOT ADVANCED) roadmap.
The Project already has the Roadmap feature enabled.
can you add printscreen? the sprints appear on roadmap usually automatically as soon as you create them in 1 project
I have multiple projects where the roadmaps show the sprint names at the top. Just not this Roadmap.
As stated above, the Sprit has been started and is active:
nothing suspicious there, I have simulated the same issue in one of my projects, also current running/open sprint does not appear on roadmap but the next sprint I created and planned dates appears there, so I will investigate it if I can find something different form other projects, where currently running sprint appears, maybe I have idea, are the dates of open sprint in the past?
so in my case I have for the same project more boards, and in the roadmap of the particular board I can see only sprints created on that board, so some of sprints were created on other boards in the prject and those I can see in roadmap of these other boards but not on this one - so there is connection of the sprint created on the board which is visibale in the roadmap only on this board, even the sprint in backlog or active sprint is visible in all of the boards, can it be also your scenario?
I have not found anything else that could result in the same issue
Make sure the missing sprints were created on the board whose Roadmap you are viewing. Sprints created on other boards won't appear.
Sprint IS created using same board in same project as Roadmap.
Your sprint needs dates/times.
When you're creating a sprint from your backlog, you have to be sure to enter in the dates and times.
I used Custom duration but you can select whatever is appropriate for you.
Sprints will then appear on your epics roadmap IF they have start/end dates during the month/weeks/days you're looking at. You can change your view at the bottom of the roadmap.
As stated above in original post:
"The sprint I have defined HAS A START AND END DATE."
Update: I just created a SECOND sprint (Xiao) and Created my first version number (1.0.0) for this project and the second sprint and version number are showing on the Roadmap. The first sprint (Wind Chime) I created still doesn't appear on the roadmap even though they both appear in the same backlog for the board. Now I'm even more perplexed!
If you have two sprints with the same start and end date, you'll see only one of them. (And you know, sprints will appear on multiple boards, not just the board they are created on.)
They do not have the same start and end date, they have consecutive date ranges with NO overlap.
Hi @Jeanne Collins
I'm sorry I don't really have an answer for you, but I just wanted to drop in and acknowledge that I read all of your post and know that you must be very frustrated right now. Not just with the weird glitch, but also all the well-meaning responses that didn't take into a account all of your info.
My only suggestion is to perhaps edit the sprint start/end dates (change the time) and see if that sorts it out.
Also, although it's even more strange, I'm glad that the second sprint is at least showing and fingers crossed the rest will do the same for you.
Good luck and I hope you work it out.
Hi Jeanne,
I would add two things...
1. Ask another user to try to view the Roadmap
and
2. Repeat the same steps for creating the missing sprint and Roadmap in your sandbox instance
The results should help narrow down the problem.
Apparently the two sprints were created when different boards were selected.
SOLVED!
Now to figure out how to get sprints to appear on Advanced Roadmaps Plans.
Hi Jeanne, did you figure all of this out? I'm having similar problems. We have a project where we have multiple boards, each board using a specialised filter. The sprints are used for the whole project, and thus shared between multiple boards. Ie they have been created from a different board, yet still in the same project. The sprints have start/end dates.
The only way I was able to work it out is to create all sprints I want to see on a roadmap using the same board.
make sure you add a shared team in your team view and configure what board your team will use and then you sprints will show up
multiple teams, multiple sprints - this isnt ideal and im going to tell the individuals who created the sprints that each sprint needs to be created on the team specific board (which means we have a multiple boards in a project - each team has their own board and therefore their own sprint in the plan [future state]
