I want to add 2 context for same custom field and for same project but for different Issue types ?

Vivek Challa December 17, 2022

I can make one context global with issue type A, and then another context project specific with issue type B, but the field doesn't show on a screen for issue type A. "Where's my Field" says it's not configured for the scope of the issue type/project.

I believe this is just the way jira works. When you set a context on a custom field to a project, it applies to the entire project, even if you just limited it to a particular issue type. The other issue types in that project just get no context for that field.

See https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-66849 and https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-6851 for the open feature requests that are not being considered.

FYI it looks like Atlassian is working on trying to fix this for Jira Cloud, follow along here: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRACLOUD-6851

In the meantime, there is an add-on in the Marketplace that I just found (but have not yet tried) that looks like it may do what we're looking for Adaptive Custom Fields (ACF)
