Hi @Raghavender M

Jira best practices is a wide topic. There is already plenty of material online available (Just Google it).

If are a new Jira Admin then start by understanding standardisation of schemes, how not to mess up Jira, optimisation of various configurations, roles vs groups, custom fields etc.

You can also learn about use cases, onboarding new teams to Jira, Migrating from other tools. Integrating Jira with other tools.

Focus on what is needed the most in your job.

Hi,

Start with this guideline, learning to be project admin in cloud.

https://university.atlassian.com/student/collection/850385/path/1062303

I suguest you to start learning  for certifications.

In this way you can achieve all the knowledge you need over time.

The best one for starters is  ACP-620 Managing Jira Projects for Cloud Certification

https://university.atlassian.com/student/page/840992-acp-620-managing-jira-cloud-projects-certification

That's how I started to learn Jira cloud.

Good luck

Hi @Raghavender M , welcome! Some nice to start with:

1. Create a personal JIRA project for your JIRA management use

2. As you start creating projects, always take a second look at what you already created to keep a format, a standard and consistency (this will work well as you scale).

3. Keep experimenting on new small projects

Have an awesome time exploring this great tool!

Good suggestions by everyone else.  I go with the following:

1. Atlassian University is your friend.  Many of the resources offered there are free.

2. Practice, practice, practice.  Set up a free Jira Cloud instance and learn how to use Jira, processing to how to administer Jira.

Good luck!

@Raghavender M This is a very open-ended question that will have different views and opinions. To start with, based on my experience, if you are working for an organization that is going to adopt Atlassian products, say Confluence & Jira, needs to come up with some basic needs that teams are looking for, It becomes complex to define workflows, customize the workspaces, user management, template creations and many more.

As many of the users from this group expressed about the use of Atlassian University, I will also suggest handpicking a few key elements throughout your learnings and do feasibility as well as implementation use cases.

Site administration & Project administration are two very different things in which site administration/implementation is complex work to master.

Hello Mayuresh,

I'm specifically looking to learn about Jira software up-gradation from lower version to latest version. but our org has some custom plugins used by our users.

Previous employee who created it left the org and no one knows how it should be handled. I want to understand how can I help org by making it compatible to the latest version of Jira.

I know few basic things that we have to test these in test environment first and do on the production later based on the outcome of up-gradation results.

I would like to do that with guided instructions. If there is any detailed documentation on how to perform upgradation I would like to perform this on test environment first.

Any valuable advice is appreciated. Thank you again for your valuable information.

All great suggestions! Yes, go with Atlassian University like @Robert Wen_ReleaseTEAM_ said. Also hang out here in the Atlassian Community ALOT. Make it your "Google". Look for best practices and ideas, for example how others use Project Category. Join relevant groups here in the Community so you can get notifications of new material, etc.

Hi there -- agree with everyone above me! I also really recommend Youtube videos, specifically this playist:  Jira Admin Playlist

I am not connected to Apetech Tech, just have really enjoyed the content Alex puts out. He is also super responsive in the comments!

Atlassian also has some great content out there as well:
