@radhika We've had a couple issues related to formatting when syncing from Jira to Jira Align. Please review these to see if any of them relate to your issue.

For Jira Server / Data Center users, in order to sync rich text, you must install an HTML plugin and configure Jira to use the plug-in's renderer. We finished validating this functionality with Jira Server / Data Center and there are two known issues.
- HTML tags counted against character max https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JIRAALIGN-1868
- HTML tag <colgroup> for advanced table formatting not supported https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JIRAALIGN-1867
This ticket is going to be closed, so I encourage Jira Server / Data Center customers to follow those two.
For Jira Cloud customers, Jira Cloud no longer supports HTML with the introduction of Atlassian Document Formatting (ADF). We've opened the issue below to capture this. We're currently researching approaches to support ADF in addition to other text formats.
