Sprint & Date Fields on Features

Stephanie Davis

On Features, is there any benefit to using the Target Start Sprint and the Target Completion Sprint?  Like, does it drive any views or reports?  It doesn't look like it shows up in the Roadmap and certainly isn't on the Program Board.

Also, I assume the date fields do drive the Roadmap but would appreciate confirmation of that:

  • Requested By
  • Start / Initiation (why doesn't this auto-populate with a date when the Feature is moved to an active state?)
  • Target Completion

@Stephanie Davis Indeed all of these fields drive how work displays on the Roadmap and has no impact on the Program Board. If you have target sprints set, make sure you are viewing the Sprint by PI view of the Roadmap. It will set the endpoints of the feature according to the selected sprints. If there are none, it defaults to the dates of the PI.

When these target sprints are set on the feature, it will not drive the planning of the feature on the Program Board, but the target end date set on the feature is viewable in the Quick View on the Program Board to allow for comparison.

If you are using the date fields, that will display in the Month by Quarter view of the Roadmap. It will set the endpoints of the feature according to the selected dates. If there are none, it defaults to the dates of the PI.
