Hi @Ben Carillo,

Can you please provide some context to your question?

  • Are you a Jira Align admin for your company?
    • If so, then you should have received training on how to do this.
    • If not, please reach out to your company's Jira Align admin(s).
  • Are you using Jira integrated with Jira Align?
    • If so, then the sprints are created automatically in Jira Align based on sprints syncing from Jira based on the concept of anchor sprints in Program Increments in Jira Align.
    • Read 10X: Create PI Synchronized Dates/Mass Add to learn more.

In the interim, you can learn more about creating sprints in Jira Align by reading the 10X: Create a Sprint article.

  • A prerequisite for creating the sprints is that the parent Program Increment must exist. You can read the 10X: Create Program Increments article to learn more.

Regards,
Peter

Ben,

Assuming you have access to create Planning/Program Increments (PI).

Open the PI in which you want to create sprints.

Click on the "Sync Sprints" tab

(screen snip below)

Make sure the "Mass Add" is grey,

Enter a Sprint Prefix (i.e. 'Q2.' for sprints in Q2)

Enter the start date of the first sprint in the PI (i.e. April 6, 2020)

Select the Duration (10 days = 2 week sprints, 5 days = 1 week sprints, etc.)

You may change "Daily Max" and "Daily Defect" to reflect the number of hours each team member is expected to spend in total and on defect work.

Select total anchors to create: (7)

Pro Tip:  When unsure, It's always better to create more, and delete the extra than to have to create an extra one. (e.g. if you are runing PI's on a calendar quarter, two of them will have Seven 2-week sprints and two of them will have six 2-week sprints. Create 7 to be sure you get the right number)

Click the "Create Anchors Button"

When you hit save, the system will refresh with sync sprints created.  In the screenshot below, I would delete sync Q1.7 since I only want 6 sprints in the PI.

Then Click "Generate Team Sprints" button. This can be done even when you are integrated to Jira, and is a recommended best practice.

When you have generated to team sprints, if you have access, go to JAdmin -> Jira Management ->

Select the "Jira Sprints" tab

Select your team board - and you will see the newly created Jira Align, Sync Sprints mapped to your Jira Board sprints.

Hope this helped!  Happy Sprinting!
