Custom hierarchy availability

Hi,

We are using JiraAlign for our enterprise and the have a new challenge to address.

We have teams who slice and dice across the parts of the portfolio that the standard Portfolio>Solution>Program>Feature is not cutting it. We find ourselves in new waters that the initiatives and OKRs will be executed through a cris-cros matrix.

Heard about jira align custom hierarchy...and we think it would help us.

  • Do we have an availability ETA of that feature and any supporting documentation?
  • Can OKRs and initiatives be tracked with this custom H feature...or is it primarily for reporting purposes?

Please help us with knowledge share. Thanks a lot

Custom Hierarchies are intended to be used for the sort of cross-cutting reporting you might be looking for. A few common uses we've seen are

  • Understanding which Systems are involved in new features or epics: the work breakdown (portfolio epic/program feature) don't necessarily match up to the IT assets that support the work.
  • Understanding which Business Capabilities are impacted by new Features or Epics.
  • Understanding which Market Segments might use a new Feature or Epic

With the Custom Hierarchy, you can see all the work and objectives that are related to the specific items. There will be 'rooms' where you can see all the work, dependencies, risks, teams contributing and so on.

We're working on Custom Hierarchies now but we're not announcing the GA dates yet. If you're working with an Align Solution Architect or TAM, check with them about the Early Access Program for Custom Hierarchy.

I know this is an old post. But had a similar question. How can we connect Custom Hierarchies to connect to Teams. I have shared teams working across Portfolios and would like to have a view for those teams.
